How Can People Give Themselves Diabetes Type 1?

type 1 diabetes

A question from Avia: How can people give themselves diabetes type 1?
Hi I know diabetes type 1 is not genetic or contagious but I was wondering if pancreatis could give you diabetes or anything else such as giving your body to much sugar so the insulin cannot keep up and works so vigorously, the beta cells get worn out. Any help would be appreciated! I was just curious!

A question from Anonymouseezz: What is insulin and how does it help people with diabetes?
Basically as simply as possible, what is it, and how does it help people with diabetes?

The best answer:

Answer by Shurephyre
Insulin is a chemical in the body that counters sugar (from what you eat / drink) to keep your blood sugar at a moderate level. People with diabetes do not make (or make very little) insulin, therefore, they must get it from another source (either taken from an animal or chemically synthesized).

Too high or too low of blood sugar is bad and can be lethal. This is why insulin is VERY important.

Can Skinny People Get Type 2 Diabetes?

type 2 diabetes

A question from sunopolous: Can skinny people get type 2 diabetes?
Also, did any one who has type 2 diabetes have symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), or reactive hypoglycemia (when blood sugar falls so fast that it feels low) years before they were diagnosed with diabetes? Or did you always feel fine before you were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes? My reason for asking is because I have a 60% chance of getting diabetes in the next ten years ( because I had gestational diabetes). But I am very slim yet my blood sugar always feels low and unstable even though I eat small meals throughout the day and watch my carbs.

1. yes skinny people can get type 2 diabetes.
2 Hypoglycemia is not a symptom nor a pre-symptom
3 there is no way that anyone can really FEEL that their blood sugar is low unless its below approx. 50 or 60.

Question by aussygirl87: Is it safe for people with type 2 diabetes to take diet pills lose weight?
im a 21yr old female in the usa , im 245 pounds 5’7, i am dieting but it doesnt seem to be enough, i have trouble exercising because of a heart problem and im desperate to lose the weight

I am more sedate because of a bad hip and artificial leg. But I am diabetic, type ll and my doctor says I should walk. I need to do this about 3 times a week, and 20 minutes at a time. But I have arthritis and fibromyalgia too and it is hard for me.

Try to eat more vegetables and fruits rather than starchy food like potatoes, pastas, breads. And make sure to include 8-10 glasses of water per day. It reduces water retention and flushes out your body. (I’m low on this factor also but I am trying)

How exercising aslo help with diabetes? Can some one please explain?

Best answer:

Answer by water baby
Im guessing he has type 2 diabetes so it can be contolled by his diet. if he is overweight its best that he goes on a diet. however if not then he just has to follow a healthy diet that normal people should eat ensuring he eats a lot of fibre.

exercise will just help him regulate his weight.

type 2 diabetes

Question by papillon17: Why do women with PCOS and people with type 2 diabetes take the same meds?
I have PCOS and I was just prescribed Metformin, which seems to be primarily for people with Type 2 diabetes. This freaks me out!!!! Am I at high risk for type 2 diabetes as well?

Best answer:

Answer by Q
You are at a higher than average risk for type 2 diabetes, but this doesn’t mean you’ll get it. The reason you are taking metformin is because women with PCOS typically have insulin insensitivity–that is, your body is not reacting as strong as it should be to the insulin your pancreas is making. Metformin makes your cells more reactive to insulin.
