As far as I know, diabetes doesn’t run in my family. My dad has high cholesterol, 2 of my aunts and my mom have high blood pressure, another aunt has a thyroid problem, and my dad’s cousin died from pancreatic cancer. Are my chances high? I’ve heard a lot of these link to diabetes, but I’m not sure which one I’m at risk to get if at all.
I forgot to mention I am 19 years old if that helps.

Diego asked:
If I have gotten my blood drawn and examined before at the doctor’s office, would they be able to tell if I had diabetes? They weren’t testing my blood for diabetes, but would they have noticed it anyways? The only reason I ask is because I have to urinate a lot, I am tired often and sometimes get cranky for no apparent reason, my uncle had diabetes, and I have a larger appetite than I used to but still don’t gain any weight and actually have been losing some without exercising that much. I feel like I should go to the doctor’s office to check for diabetes but I feel stupid or feel like a hypochondriac for even suggesting the idea to my parents or doctor, what should I do? Thanks!
I have also had a history of having high blood pressure, does that have anything to do with anything? haha

As an observation, it seems when one has high blood it comes next that he has heart ailment or diabetes. What’s the connection and what is the prevention on this?
