Ray asked: I know that carbohydrate will be converted to glycogen (sugar) and stored in body. For this reason, if I eat a lot of carbohydrate, ie. the food groups at the base of Pyramid Food Guide, will I possibly increase sugar for myself? ANd consequently, will I have diabetes because of high-carb diet?
: I eat a lot of high-sugar fruits too though, eg, grapes, tangerine, pears, apple. My diet is low around 1,200-1,500 calorie and my eating habit is irregular.
And if I exercise regularly, will my sugar decrease due to burning of energy for use during exercise?

I have never been to sure because some say it’s a myth while others say it’s true. And I want proof because there is no way I’m believing you if you don’t supply me with proof. A website, a video, any link that will prove to me that diabetes can or cannot cause diabetes. Please tell the truth because i eat A LOT of sugar. I want to know how that can hurt me. Thanks.

TopQuark asked: Some fruits are higher than others on the glycemic index. Is it possible that fruit eaten in any quantity could become a cause of diabetes? I had always thought that the enemy was sucrose, not fructose consumed in raw, fresh fruit.
Have read that overweight can be a contributing factor. If one remains consistently slighly under-weight can such an individual develop diabetes?
If the reader happens to be an expert in the matter, why not list for me up-to-date guidelines for the avoidance of this problem?

I have been drinking cranberry juice everyday for a month or so now because I am prone to get bladder/kidney infections. My friend, who has the same problem, says that her doctor told her that cranberry juice in excessive amounts can cause diabetes. Is this true?

This question wasn’t answered well…it was asked about bulimia possibly causing diabetes. What I would like to know is, if you don’t already have diabetes, can having an eating disorder lead you to having diabetes 1 or 2?

I see a lot of veterans who have both Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and diabetes. I have heard from other counselors, that adrenaline caused by the startle reflex, nightmares, and other stressors due to PTSD can damage your liver and pancreas after years of repeated symptoms. This in turn causes diabetes. I like to base evidence with research, but I cannot find anything that supports this claim. Does anyone know of any evidence that would either support or refute this claim?
