When you have type 1 diabetes, why does it matter if your blood sugar is high? What happens if you don’tt treat diabetes? What happens if you don’t take the shots or watch what you eat? Do you die?

Yes, actually, a persistent state of high sugar can eventually lead to organ failure, blindness and gangrene. The shots are the hormone that help the body breakdown and elimiate sugars.

You loose your feet, you can go blind, you eventually have kidney failure, and you get lots of sores in very uncomfortable areas. You can also go into a coma and it can make you so sick that you can’t breathe.
Don’t mess around with it that is juvenile diabetes and can be serious if you ignore it. Get to the Doctor and do what they say. Good luck to you. God Bless

An early detection of this disease can lead to glucose control, and a major delay in the onset of these conditions.
blindness, feeling lousy all the time, the smallest wound can develope gangrene and the only cure for that is amputation, failure of other organs as well. Type 2 diabetes carries the same threats.
Before you undergo organ failure etc, you will develop ketoacidosis from the very high blood sugar, you’ll be really sick and thow up a lot, this will make you even sicker because you’ll start to dehydrate. You’ll eventually go into a coma. If the diabetes is not diagnosed at that point, you’ll die.
If you just don’t eat right, and don’t take you shots as directed, you’ll be sick a lot and start developing nerve, kidney, eye, vascular, and heart problems.
Life will not be pleasant for a daibetic who doesn’t take care of their diabetes.
Simply put — YES — you will die.
Type 1 Diabetes means the your pancreas has pretty much failed completely., Because of this your body produces very little or no insulin, and so there is NO control over your blood sugar.
Extra sugar in the blood attachs itself to the red blood cells (this is called GLYCATING) and the sugar molecules act like tiny little knives, making the red blood cells work like a Rotor-Rooter system in your blood vessels. They start damaging the walls of the blood vessels, causing tiny cuts, clots, and scar tissues.
This is extremely damaging to the capillaries, which are only just a little bit larger then a red blood cell, anyway. These capillaries get ripped to shreds!
Now, your kidneys are FULLL of capillaries, so one major damage of diabetes is kidney failure. And it is usually not reversible. If the blood sugar stays high, the result is kidney failure leading to either death or dialysis.
There are capillaries in the retinas of your eyes. These tend to get cut open, causing a bleed. Many diabetecis go blind.
And also the capillaries in your brain. When these break you get many small strokes. The effect is very much like Alzheimers.
And how about those capillaries in the sex organs — broken capillaries lead to the inability to have sex.
That same glycateds red blood cells also don’t carry as much oxygen. So you constantly feel tired, and wounds don’t heal as well. Many diabetics suffer from gangrene. leading to amputation of feet, legs, fingers, hands, and arms.
ALSO – - – Some of that sugar breaks down and attachs to the nerves. This leads to diabetic neuropathy, which affects every organ in the body, from brain to tips of toes. Since things often “don’t hurt”, the diabetic doesn’t realize that he or she has a serious wound until gangrene sets in.
Optic nerves get damaged, and nerves to the sexual organs get damaged. Also, the nerves to the stomach and intestines get damaged, leading to many digestive problems, including diarhea, which then leads to dehydration.
It doesn’t really matter if you are Type 1 or Type2 — the effects are the same, but Type 1 diabetics are often diagnosed sooner — in childhood. Therefore, Type 1 diabetes is often called Juvenile Diabetes, but this is a misnomer. Even adults can get Type1 diabetes.
if u dont treat your diabetes thee r serious consicuences! if its below 20(for my dad at least) he goes into a coma. he has twice and it scares me a lot! my mom has gotten him out of it but next time he probly wont. too high i believe does the same thing ut im not sure
What CAN happen…loss of feet and other extremities, blindness. kidney failure, hypertension, death and the list goes on. Because the blood sugar is high, infections are harder to fight as the sugar feeds the bugs causing it. Untreated diabetes is a nasty thing. On top of that, its not that hard to treat and control. Yes, there are some lifestyle choices you must make to be a healthy diabetic but most of these choices are ones normal healthy people should be making for themselves anyway, so why would you not want to treat it? Life is too precious not to. As a Type 1, insulin also becomes part of your life, that’s because your body isn’t producing any on its own so you have to inject it by syringe or pump. The good news is that you can, just 75 years ago, this would have been a death sentence, today, its treatable.
