My husband recently found out he has Diabetes. We bought the Sugar Busters book and it looks like the American Diabetes Cookbook has several things in a recipes that Sugar Busters said to avoid. Both books are great, but I’m new at this so I’m confused. Thank you for any info you can give me.

I’m not familiar with either book but the important thing ot remember is type II diabetes is a lifestyle disease. Your husband needs to change his diet (out with the bad carbs; moderate intake of good carbs); exercise at least 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week; and lose weight.
For the most part he should stay away from white sugar, white flour and salt. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat complex carbohydrates in moderation. It takes some reading and time to learn which foods have the good carbs and how much. Also with the medication and changing of diet, your husband will have to be conscious of how foods affect him. good luck.
