A better blood test is called a fructosamine which shows more of an average so it is more accurate than a one time test.

For more information, I strongly suggest heading to, as 123 if accurate is still diabetic, even if just barely.

They usually just want the cat in to get a level. 320 is really high, even if the cat has just eaten, btw. If a second test after a dietary change shows a lower level, then, you have dealt with the diabetes appropriately. I suspect its one of the low-carb specialty cat foods. I’d suggest you take the cat in every 6-12 months for a recheck on blood sugar level. You should not fast the cat. The issue is how his blood sugar is after he eats. Like I said, 320 is *really* high. If you want to be really sure, you can have the vet do a glucose curve where the cat is in the office getting a blood draw several times over a 10 hour period.

I would suspect that should be the case. I would call the vet and ask them why they didn’t test after a fast.
