What Kinds of Things Might Trigger Type 1 Diabetes?

I think I might have diabetes. I’m going to go to the doctor real soon. Until then I have a question i’d like answered. Can anyone tell me, that has type 1 diabetes, what lead you to believe you have it, like i researched a little bit and most of the things said alot of time people get had an illness of some sort that triggered it or something. i have type one diabeties,
im fifteen =)
diabeties is an autoimmune disorder. This is when the body’s immune system behaves inappropriately and starts seeing one of it’s own tissues as foreign. In the case of Type 1 Diabetes, the islet cells of the pancreas that produce insulin are seen as the “enemy” by mistake.
before i was diagnosed i had
- rapid weight loss (10kg’s in one month, roughly 23 lbs)
-increased thurst
-despressed
-extream hunger
-sweet breath (glucose in saliva)
-had to do wee’s all the time after dinner and meals
I was diagnosed with Type 1 at 42 years old. Adult onset diabetes. The symptoms I had were,
1. Constant hunger
2. Loosing weight
3. Frequent urination.
4. Feeling tired all the time.
5. Extreme change in eye sight. Near blindness.
My eye sight change is what really scared me into seeing my doctor. And now that I am on insulin,it has gotten back to normal for the most part.
Type 1 you are generally born with and accounts for 20% of diabetics.
Type 2 is the one you develop and is lifestyle related (although it can run in families), see above for many of the symptoms for type 2 not type 1.
You are right for the most part, usually Type 1 (also known as Juvenile onset, or Insulin Dependant Diabetes), is generally contracted by individuals with a genetic disposition to having it in the first place, (basically this means that usually their genes were programmed with diabetes in the first place), however they ususally do not actually contract diabetes until they are a few years old, usually following a stressful or traumatic situation such as an infection, injury, or environmental change like loss of family, and their immune system attacks the Beta cells in the Islets of Langerhans in the pancrease which produce the body’s insulin, leading to the person getting diabetes.
Another less common way for someone to contract diabetes is for them to suffer a traumatic injury to their pancrease or contract a pancreatic disease such as pancreatitis or Pancreatic Cancer, or suffer something like a car crash which damages the pancrease itself, causing the pancrease to fail to function properly and not produce insulin anymore, however this is very uncommon.
Also, if someone answers that it’s caused by eating sweets or obesity, don’t listen to them, they’re thinking of Type 2 (also known as Adult onset, or Non-Insulin Dependent diabetes), type 1 diabetes has almost no relation to weight or dietary habits.

Hey I’m 13 and i have type 1. I’m pretty sure that there is no absolute reason for type 1 diabetes and i was diagnosed when i was 9. Right before i went to the doctor i had lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. My appetite had sharply decreased and i was extremely thirsty at all times. Drinking tons of gatorade did not help my blood sugar. Also, i had to go to *** a ton. I got up at night 3-5 times to go to the bathroom. Eventually i went to the doctor and later the hospital to get it under control. My sugar was about 600, so if you had diabetes i think you would know because of the symptoms you would be suffering from
