Laugh asked:
I am 17 and especially at night (like after dinner) I get really thirsty… I seriously have to chew gum to get rid of the thirsty feeling in my mouth. I also have been ****** slightly more then usual, maybe 1 or 2x a day more then usual. I haven’t lost any weight though (and I know that is a major symptom of diabetes…)

weight loss is a symptom of type 1 diabetes.
excessive thirst, passing lots of urine, stomache cramps, weight loss, tiredness and mood swings are also the most common ones
excessive thirst is you have to drink all the time.
passing lots of urine with diabets means going at least 2 times in an hour and you will wake in the night to do so too
you dont really seem to be excessive in either from what your describing. im a diabetic nurse and if your worried the best thing you can do is go and see your doctor as soon as possibel
Most likely nothing at all is wrong with you! You have read the symptoms of diabetes and are trying hard to fit them to yourself, but they just don’t fit.
You are not really thirsty if gum will get rid of the dry mouth!!
You are not going to the restroom more than necessary unless it is like every 15 minutes.
You would be dropping weight like crazy and being extremely hungry all the time too.
Thirsty and frequent ********* are symptoms of diabetes. But the frequency you mention is not too high to diagnose as diabetes. I think this is just mental fear that causing these symptoms.

Think really hard before seeing a doctor. I was diagnosed with diabetes 6 months ago, and in the month before that (between me becoming diabetic and being diagnosed) I drank 22 bottles of water a day, slept all day, waking up every 45 minutes or so to *** and then drink another bottle of water, and then about 3 2-hour periods that i would wake up, work on homework, and eat a meal (i was homeschooling at the time), lost 20 pounds (yes, in one month), and ate a ton, trying to get my weight up. The thirst isn’t just at night, it is all the time. Like, literally I would leave class 3 times each 50-minute class period to refill my 2-liter water bottle and ***. My teachers thought I was crazy, so my mom pulled me out of school after 4 days until we could figure out what was wrong. Chewing gum actually makes the thirst worse…..
I know I’m not a specialist (I’m only 15!) but I would say most likely you are stressed from school and not drinking enough (or drinking too much Coke/coffee to pull all-nighters?
) and slightly dehydrated. Try drinking a liter of water every day. You get thirsty because you chew gum/don’t drink enough water, and then you drink stuff to quench your thirst, resulting in you having to *** more because you drink more. I wouldn’t worry about it.
