Weight gain or weight loss can be symptoms of diabetes, as can an increased thirst, irritability, increased or decreased hunger, fatigue, or yeast infection. I don’t remember my sister’s doctor mentioning anything about a missed period.
Irregular periods and weight gain can be symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, PCOS, which is also related to insulin.
I’ve attached links on both disorders for you.
Irregular periods are perfectly normal for teen girls. It takes a little while to settle down to a regular pattern. If it continues too long then see your doctor and they will most likely prescribe the pill.
Type 1 diabetes ( the most type common in young, fit people) does NOT have a strong family link and you lose weight, not gain it. So I think you are safe.
If you are losing weight fast, drinking excessively and feel tired, hungry and unwell then you may have diabetes.
Well, I got type 1 diabetes a year ago and I had dramatic weight loss, constant thirst and constantly going to the toilet to pee(even waking up every couple of hours in the night to pee), headaches, blurry vision, REALLY tired all the time. Some of the other symptoms are ******* itching and/or recurrent thrush. Some of the less common symptoms are cramps, constipation, and recurrent skin infections.
Although you’re not experiencing many of these symptoms, I would recommend going to see your doctor just to be on the safe side and just to know that you are healthy. And if you DO have diabetes, the quicker you get it sorted out the better-TRUST me! But don’t worry, I don’t see any reason why you should worry about it until you go to the doctors and find out. Hope I helped!
frequent *********.
extreme thirst.
fatigue.
numbness(sometimes)
hyperactive(like sugar crash, that’s when you know you’re high)
bad tempered(hyperglycemia)
i asked on yahoo answers before and all of them said no but then i went to the doctor and apparently,i have type 1 diabetes.
so don’t count on answers,go to a doctor.
but if you want to be sure first, here’s what you can do,go to a pharmacy, get a glucometer, the monitor your glucose level,if it is always high(80-120 is normal.above that is high) go see a doctor.
hope that helped.good luck! =)
um. with type 1 diabetes you dont really gain weight at all, its usually the opposite you get something called “ketones” which in english is what happens when your blood sugar is really high, that causes you to lose weight. so i really do not think it could be diabetes. it almost sounds like you could be pregnant though.
If you think that you may have diabetes then you need to see your doctor and get your blood glucose levels checked. Diabetes can not be diagnosed by symptoms alone and needs to be diagnosed by blood tests.
