I'm 15 and, I've had diabetes since I was about 8. I kind of have mixed feeling about it though. Okay, I won't lie, I hate my diabetes with a passion and I occasionally go "Why me?" but, I think if I didn't have it I'd be very unhealthy. I hate pricking too, so I hardly do it(Please don't be like me). I'm doing better with that than I was before but, I could improve. Injections are okay because I am a proud pump user! I find it really hard to deal with my diabetes. Absolutely no one in my family has or has had type I so, I'm basically alone on this. But I try not to let it bring me way down because let's face it, diabetes sucks, but it's treatable. I don't think a cure is due anytime soon, but I'm still hoping. And I don't pass up the yummies either, I just don't get the extra triple scoop when all my friends do!

"You're just like everyone else, except you have to do a little more to get by" my non-diabetic mother.

I am 19 they say I had type two but it is kind of a close call. They have a thing like a watch you can wear and you dont have to ***** yourself...one panic room I think that girl wears one. You could try a pump I hear they are wonderful. The worst part is no dairy queen :(

diabetes, runs in my family my mother had it from the time she was six months old and put on insulin in the early 60,s and died in the 70's and think back in the old days when people didn't have insulin so think of how lucky we are now. i am on insulin and have been on it now for ten years. and many different diabetic meds too.

I've been type one diabetic since I was eleven years old and now I'm twenty one almost twenty two. Coping with diabetes can be very hard now at days with everything being so loaded with sugar and carbs. But thankfully over the years people and doctors have come up with foods, drinks, alternatives, and devices that help with having diabetes. I'm glad they think their really close to a cure. And I also hate having to check my blood sugar, at least on my fingers since I work with my fingers alot, so I use a machine where I can check on my forearm. Living with diabetes can make some people go batty, but I think the younger a person is when they become diabetic the better because they can adjust quickly then a person who is older and used to sugary foods. The insulin shots are a pain sometimes especially if you hit muscle! but it must be done to survive right? I also think the diets and everything are imprtant but still a really annoying part of being diabetic, especially with all the yummy things out there to eat and drink. Hope your doing well and hopefully my long boring answer gave you what you were looking for!

i do well with having diabetes, like yourself, i found out at 10, and i'm 18 now. sometimes my blood sugars are like a yo-yo. other times i do just fine. but having diabetes has taught me the importance of getting healthly, and staying healthly.

well, I don't have diabetes but my father does. I've seen him with his injections and pricking his finger for blood and sometimes I wonder, "how can he do that EVERY DAY??" But he's coping with it just fine, almost as if he doesn't even have it. But, I do bet sometimes it kinda up sets him.. I mean, who wants to do that daily? But he just stays positive about it and keeps his head up high. :-)
