Say if someone ate 10 coffee cakes, or something that has a ton of sugar, is it possible to get diabetes from this or just become fat?

It depends what kind your blood type is. Its all about the genes.
you mean just 1 time? no.
Nope, but it is possible to have a sugar overload and become really sick.
Diabetes typically occurs over time or as a result of illness in the pancreas.
what else do u get diabetes from?
It is possible
possibly both. BE CAREFUL. k?
all at one time?
no… it happens overtime, not over night
If you have been intaking a lot of sugar for the past month, there is a good chance you could get diabetes! But one big intake for a day you might just gain a pound.
JUST WATCH WHAT YOU EAT!
It is certainly possible to get diabetes from an overabundance of sugar over a long period of time. However, I don’t think there have been any cases of people getting diabetes from one “binge”.
The bigger concern would be the fact that the type of person who would do this type of binging EVER would have a tenancy to overeat or eat the wrong things on a regular basis.
YES, very possible…
Its called type 2.. =]
diabetes is not something that occurs instantly. Lets say this someone continued to eat 10 coffee cakes a day then yes the potential for them to contract diabetes is greatly increased,. It may however take years to actually get the disease, My husband at numerous sweets over the years then 2 years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes. He was placed on medication and a diet. He lost weight and we cut out all sugars. He now no longer has to take medication and only takes multibetic which is a vitamin for diabetics.
No, diabeties is a time release/intake effect.
However, the only people I can think of that can develope it rather quickly (but still not in 1 sitting like you’re describing) would be pregnant women. GD. that can come outta nowhere fairly quick.
This is the biggest misnomer.
Just because you eat tons and tons of sugar, it does not mean you will beome a diabetic. You will just become fat.
Now if you become fat and you still eat a lot of suger then you will push yourself to becoming diabetic. The fatter you are, the more desensitized your insulin receptors get in your tissues. Thus the sugar in your body will not uptake the sugar you eat and thus you become a diabetic.
James B is right. You cannot get diabetes from eating massive amounts of sugar. The causes include genetics, pregnancy, obesity, certain drugs and several others.
But it is a big giant myth that eating sugar causes diabetes, or that craving sugar means you have it.
no, it is inherited. sugar intake has nothing to do with it.m the most that will happen is youll gain a few pounds or get a cavity.
If you did it everyday and became overweight, it could help you develop type 2 diabetes.
But type 2 is genetic too … so if it’s not in your genes, you’re not going to get it.
And some people get it when they eat right and exercise.
Developing type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with diet at all.
No, not possible. It depends on which kind you refer to, but it can indicate a lifestyle that is conducive to generating type 2 diabetes.
