NO.

Type 1s MUST have insulin to survive. There is no substitute. Glucophage is used to type 2 diabetes...NOT for type 1.

Do not make any change to your regimen without first consulting with your doctor. Do not listen to this foreign doctor who obviously knows nothing about diabetes and it's treatment. If he did, he wouldn't be asking you to do something that can and will endanger your life.

Do not take that diabetic doctor's advise. Glucophage is for Type 2 and not for Type 1 treatment. Most probably, it will not have any effect on your disease. Consult another doctor on this matter.

dont. this will seriously mess up your blood sugar, in fact you'll probably be in a coma by mid afternoon. just a bad idea. consult your normal docter about this if your planning on going through with this.

Glucophage is a oral med for Type 2 diabetes, not Type 1. It helps the body use its own insulin more efficiently, but in Type 1 we make little to no insulin of our own anymore. He is confused like so many health practitioners...do not take oral meds in place of insulin.

NNNOOOO!!

Glucophage is NOT a valid treatment for TYPE 1 Diabetes. YOU WILL DIE if you stop taking insulin and start taking glucophage.

Glucophage is the company's name for METFORMIN. Metformin is a treatment for Insulin Resistance. it makes the body better use the insulin it has.

But as a Type 1 diabetic, you have little or no insulin in your body. YOU MUST TAKE INSULIN SHOTS or you will die.

The following website is directly from the manufacturer of Glucophage:

This website is a much more straight forward:

"Glucophage is . . . sometimes used in combination with insulin or other medications, but it is not for treating type 1 diabetes."

Type 1 Diabetes is pretty rare outside of the US, Canada, and Northern Europe. There is a chance your doctor from the Middle East has never treated a patient with type 1.

Do not follow his advice if you value your health.

NO! NO! NO!
Glucophage is not a substitute for insulin and the guy who gave you that advice had no idea what he was talking about! Glucophage (also known as Metformin) is for treating type 2 diabetes. Some type 1 diabetics take medication in addition to insulin, but not instead of insulin. Never change your diabetes medication based on some strangers advice!
