yeah either lose the weight or get the diabetes.
avoid sugar and starchy foods. Eat healthy. I’m heavy so saying lose weight is frustrating, I know. It’s easier said than done. It’s not exactly the answer you want, right? I am aware of that!!!! The answer would be ideally, lose weight, of course. In the interim, try staying away from sweets, eating sensibly, and eating smaller meals more frequently. Try eating like 6 small meals a day…get a diabetic diet book out of the library and familiarize yourself with it. Its a good plan to follow to lose weight too. Stay away from cake, candy, etc and breads carbs etc. Don’t gorge on proteins but eat sensibly. WALK. Its the best exercise you can do! You’ll not only lower your blood sugars but lose weight too. Good luck!
300 pounds is morbid obesity and the person is surely pre-diabetic at the least at this point. However, since we are most likely talking about type 2 Diabetes here, it can be reversed with weight loss, exercise, diet modification and medication to help control sugars if needed. We have seen it happen recently with a friend who has lost all their excess weight and is no longer diabetic as a result. They MUST do something, or they will die!!!
EDIT: Those of you who believe that obesity cannot cause Diabetes do not understand that it is TYPE 2, that is caused by obesity. This is a medical fact. True, not all obese people get type 2, but they ARE at serious risk. Type one does have genetic factors, BUT not always: it can also be caused by a virus and doctors do not currently know how to prevent it.
Loose weight, eat healthy food, and exercise.
Being grossly obese is not a reason to get diabetes.
You must first have the defective gene in your system, then being obese will not help a bit.
If being overweight were a factor, all overweight people would be diabetic! But only less than half of overweight are diabetic!!
Loose the extra anyway! You will help your heart a great deal!
Diabeties have nothing to do with weight. It is the defect or non working of pancreal which cause suger. weight can be an additional factor not the cause, have regular walk, u may not be victim of it.
Eating healthily qand exercising as though you were already diabetic could stav e off the onset of diabetes, but it will probably only delay it.. 300 pounds is morbidly obese and if you dont develop diabetes you will almost certainly develop some other life threatening condition.
I am 200 pound, recently type 2 diabetic and told that I would have had it earlier if not for my lifestyle of healthy eating and exercising.
I am now losing weight with my Doctors support and help before i develop anything worse.
My advice is lose the weight and all the health risks.
Good Luck.
