Just a blood test. They do a fasting blood sugar which tells what your blood sugar is after you haven’t eaten anything for 12 hours.
Or they can do a blood test 2 hours after you eat which tells how your body is handling the food.
There is also a blood test they do that can tell what your blood sugar has been averaging for the last 3 monthes.
So there are lots of tests, they all require a blood test.
probably just a Blood sugar test. If they have all the symptoms then they would prob just do a finger ***** and test that drop of blood. It should be done 2hrs after food, and atleast 30mins after a cigarette or caffeine, to be really accurate. But it can be done any time. Diabetes is high and low blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar tends to mean insulin injections (but not always). and high can be just a diet change, or tablets.
unless they changed things, my doctor had me fast the night before. No food after 9pm, only water. Then I went in for blood test every hour for about 4-5 hours after drinking something they gave me. The series off blood test measures your body reactions to sugar and if it is handling it properly.
my dad has diabetes so they always test my urine every few months (if you have diabetes then your body cant break down the sugars in foods and youll secrete it instead)
this doesnt necessary mean you have diabetes, probably if they ever found sugar in my urine theyd do blood tests
The test for diagnosing diabetes is called an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. This test is the most accurate, most effective way to diagnose it.
The idea is to flood your body with glucose (by drinking a specially formulated soda) and then seeing, over the period of 2-5 hours, how your body reacts to it.
You must fast for 8-12 hours prior to the start of the test. A fasting blood sugar level is drawn. You then drink the soda. At set intervals over that period of 2-5 hours, more blood is drawn. Depending on the results of those blood sugar levels, a diagnosis can be made (or not).
