There are basically two types of gene mutations in respect to disease. One type of mutation causes a disease. For example, the mutant gene may cause achrondroplasia (a form of dwarfism) or it may cause hemophilia or cystic fibrosis or sickle cell disease. The existence of genes that cause diseases has long been recognized.

The other type of gene mutation does not directly cause a disease but rather predisposes to it. These genes make a person susceptible to developing a disease. To REVERSE diabetes means to reduce or eliminate the symptoms, through diet, exercise and/or medication. IF you follow doctors orders, you CAN reverse the effects of diabetes.

To CURE a disease means that it goes away and never comes back. That is not possible with diabetes. if you stop taking your medications, stop following your diet, and stop exercising, the diabetes WILL return.

With diseases like chicken pox, once you have them and get over it, you will never have them again. You are cured.

Diabetes is NOT that way. Once you are diabetic you will always be diabetic. you MUST watch your diet, you MUST keep exercising, you MUST control your weight, and you MUST take your medications as ordered by the doctor.

If you do all this, Diabetes can be controlled. You will live a life just like a “healthy” person, including schoolwork, hobbies, career, marriage, children and grandchildren. but you are NOT CURED — you are CONTROLLED.

if you stop following doctors orders, then diabetes will return, with very painful results that will shorten your life.

SImply put:
CURE is gone forever.
REVERSED is healed, but the disease will return without proper care.

If you hear an advertisement trying to sell you something to “reverse ” or “cure” diabetes they are trying to sell you snake oil. Once you are type 2 diabetic you can control it with diet, exercise and possibly medications. However if you revert to eating a high carb meal it will show it self.

It just means it can be stabilised, remission so to speak.

type 1 diabetes has no cure since your pancreas cannot secrete insulin or use the insulin you have. type two can not techinically be “reversed” but can be controlled without medications even if you were placed on them. start by losing weight, following a healthy diet and exercise plan and continueing to manage and monitor your blood sugar
