Type two diabetes generally causes symptoms to appear gradually (over several years) whereas type one can cause them to appear more quickly… usually within weeks or months.
type 2 builds up over time. if its not genetic it has been most likely (but not always) lifestyle related
type 1 builds up faster….but not in the way of nothing yesterday but got it today. maybe over a few weeks
also in the mean time while you are thinking that it might be diabetes it gives you a chance to let it go for a bit and see what the change is so you dont go into panic mode
The symptoms occur over time. In the cse of Type 2 diabetes, the symptoms can take YEARS to develop.
That is why diabetes is so insidious. It sneaks up on you real quiet like, and then one day — !!BAM!! — the doctor says you’re diabetic.
Since the problems sneak up so slow, they are often overlooked, or mistaken for other disease, like “aging” or “growing up”. So most people don;t bother going to the doctor until the pain is so bad they can’t stand it — and by that time much permanent damage is done.
Because of all this, the American Diabetes Association says that in most cases of Type 2 Diabetes, the patient has been diabetic for 5-7 YEARS before being diagnosed.
