Diabetes Cured Through Diet and Exercise?

Question by Luke: Diabetes cured through diet and exercise?
I heard a story about a boy who had diabetes at a young age because of genetic reasons. He had maintained an excellent diet his whole life and was on the wrestling team his freshman year of high school. Just a few weeks into wrestling season he was cured from diabetes and his body began to function as it is suppose to. I don’t know if this is a true story, but could it be possible? Is diabetes curable through diet and excercise?

This is a crock of you know what.
They have cured mice in the laboratory using stem cell and one British man was cured from having a transplants of islet cells, the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, from three separate donors.
He is the only one to have been cured.
Unfortunately there is no way diet and exercise can cure the body of not producing insulin. Diet and exercise will keep the problem under control with medication.
if it was a pre-diabetic condition then yes he could have been cured by diet and exercise. i’m not sure about if it was a full blown case of diabetes though…but diet and exercise are miracle working things. this is what they will tell you to do anyway if you are diagnosed at any point in your life with type 2 diabetes which tends to occur in older people who are genetically prone AND who have had crappy eating and exercising habits all their lives. but since he was a young boy my guess is it would be possible to cure this condition to some extent. i’m sure he would have to keep up the good nutrition habits and exercise otherwise he might be prone to a relapse.
Any complimentary health practitioner will tell you that yes, it’s possible, without prescription drugs, and it happens in their practices all the time.
Look up such people as Dr. Mercola and Mike Adams. Read their comments and decide for yourself who you are going to believe.
That is quite a story, but I’ve never heard of this before. I would think if it were true, many people would be exercising alot more! I have had people with diabetes in my classes, and their blood sugar does come down and level out when they exercise on a consistent basis and they feel alot better. Being cured? No.
I found a website that explain everything about diabetes and diet. Just have a look http://www.diabetesdietcare.com
Hope this helps.
People with type 1 diabetes are likely to need injections of insulin for the rest of their lives as this is the only effective way of getting insulin into the bloodstream. Insulin cannot be swallowed because the digestive juices in the stomach destroy it. There are three main types of insulin – short, medium and long term. The short-acting insulin is always colorless, while the other two are cloudy because they contain additives to slow down the absorption of insulin from under the skin. Typically, people follow a system, which comprises three injections of short-acting insulin before the three main meals of the day, and a night-time injection of a medium or long-acting insulin to control blood glucose while they are asleep.
