It is more likely you have a bladder infection. As far as telling whether you have it in your pee, I think there are indicators that show up in someone who is diabetic that would persuade a doctor to do further testing.

its called a ketone test.
they can tell u the range of your blood glucose level, so if its high/above normal, they’ll check your glucose w/ a meter, but this is pretty accurate.
they use ketone strips , and the color it turns on the tip gives them a fairly accurate prediction of the range of your glucose.
you can go to a drug store and ask the pharmacist for “ketostix”. then check your own ***. If the stick turns color, you likely have diabetes. This test takes about 15 seconds, not two days.
They can only definitely tell if you have diabetes by a blood test. You might need to find a new doctor.
They can check your sugar and ketone levels from your urine. I’m not sure why they didn’t just test your blood sugar though. I have been diabetic since age 1.
