When I was 17 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Since then I do not need to use any type of insulin or oral medication to control. Just diet and exericise alone. Would that disqualify me for joining?

Both Type I and Type II Diabetes are disqualifying medical conditions for enlistment into the Armed Forces.
It would be an automatic disqualification but you could ask for a waiver.
I think it would be INSANE to disqualify someone on those grounds. They have all kinds of rapists and drunks/druggies in the military. What’s diabetes have to do with it? It should be about you passing the physical.
If you are now at normal blood sugar readings through diet and exercise, just don’t mention the previous diagnosis and see if the basic blood tests they give let you in. Just because you had it before, does not mean you have it now.
Go for it, you just might make it and keeping fit will keep it away. Good luck.
