A question from tazzmainiandevils: can diabetes be reversed with diet?

A diabetic diet can help stabilize your blood sugar level in your body and if a diabetic does not keep their blood sugar in check, it can result in a lot of medical problems. When a person eats food that contains sugar and carbohydrates, their pancreas starts producing insulin which will carry the sugar into their cells for energy. Without this insulin, the sugar builds up in our system and can cause many unwanted health problems. Once the sugar is built up in your system for a long period of time, health problems can arise. The sugar will start by destroying your blood vessels. It will soon move on to much bigger organs and can cause you to develop heart disease, kidney disease, nerve damage and vision problems. So in order to prevent this from happening and to help keep your body healthy, you need to find out how to effectively lower your blood sugar level. A question from [Vibrant]: Can teens and children have type 2 diabetes?
I was wondering if only people in their 40s+ are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and if only people below that age are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

More and more younger people are being diagnosed with T2DM every day. It is no longer a disease of us older folks. Why? (and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise) Poor diet (fast foods, high fructose corn syrup) and lack of exercise (video games) are accelerating the process that gets us older people into trouble. The fix is, eat a well balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies, and get plenty of daily exercise.

Question by AA: Will I get diabetes – Diet?
I am in great shape and work out (weight lifting) everyday. I don’t do to much cardio right now because I am trying to gain muscle mass. But I also eat what ever I want sort of. I have doughnuts and sweats all the time along with my regular meals which are usually pretty healthy. Am I in danger of getting diabetes if I continue this diet?

DIET HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU GETTING DIABETES!!! Foods and drinks do not contribute to diabetes! It is entirely your genetic pattern.

This is a great video on the subject of type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes visualization of a low blood sugar coma. Whatever diabetes type, you can get low blood sugar at night and you wake up and everything is a blur and confusing. I based this on my own experiences of low blood sugar. When I get really low all lights start to get halos and things no longer make sense. It’s like those mornings where you are still half asleep but in this instance the adrenaline is blaring telling you that if you want to die all you have to do is nothing. I would recommend for all type one diabetics or users of insulin and insulin raising drugs to keep glucose tabs next to your bedside. I have mine there a long with a year old sugar soda I haven’t used yet. I won third place in the sight category for this video. A question asked by idaho: Will my type 2 diabetes go away If I loose weight?
I hear that if I lose all my excess weight that my type 2 diabetes will go away and all its “problems”. As long as I stay healthy I wont have to take shots etc. Is this true?

Answer by Golden
Yes and no. Once you have diabetes your pancreas has been severely damaged and the cells cant come back however, sometimes you still have some cells left that will kick back in once you loose weight and it is possible to not need to take any medication etc as long as you remain healthy. But a lot of the time its too late.

A question from Black Hawk: Does type 2 diabetes have anything to do with why my teeth aren’t white?
I brush my teeth for two minutes twice a day and I can never get white teeth, they’re just…a weird color that isn’t yellow but isn’t white either. So I was curious if my type 2 diabetes has anything to do with it.

Maybe you have a calcium deficiency or are taking barbituates that deplete calcium. They turn your teeth a non color, like gray.
