Sad Spirit asked:

I don’t have insurance to go to a doctor but I am wondering if I have diabetes. I have to urinate a lot, I get light headed and shaky if I don’t constantly have sugar, my urine has a sweet odor, I get thirsty a lot. How do I self treat?

I have diabetes and usually get a salad for lunch at work and make chicken for dinner. This is my first winter really focusing on my eating and I live in the Northeast, with are first full storm last week I realized that my days of laying around with friends eating popcorn and watching movies may be over on a day off. What do other store in their home’s for those snack attacks.
I’m looking for non-parashiable items for when we get these sudden snow storms.

My Dad has diabetes and all he does is sleep in bed all day everyday. He needs help to go to the toilet and changes his mood every second. His eyes always get swollen and he is super thin! I don’t know what food to make for him since he can’t have oil, fat, and fried foods! I don’t know what to do!

You always hear about natural cures for diseases, but you never hear of what they are or even the treatments. I’ve heard there is a natural cure for Herpes, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and hypertension, but no one ever seems to know what they are, or where they can be found. I have even read that book ‘Natural Cures They Don’t Want You to Know About’ by Kevin Trudeau and he just beats around the bush. Is there anyone out there with solid evidence and answers?

I am 33 weeks along with gestational diabetes. I have been doing very well with my blood sugar levels and my diabetes is controlled by diet.

Is it likely that my doctor will let me carry to 40 weeks?

Why does diabetes result in high volume of urine output?

I understand that with diabetes, the proximal tube/loop of henle/etc cannot get rid of all the excess glucose that is pumped through the nephrons, resulting in sugary urine. BUT, I don’t understand how the presence of glucose would increase the VOLUME of urine. Can someone explain?

I’m guessing it has something to do with osmosis but I can’t put my finger on it.
Paige, please don’t spam my thread ^_^

Or can cats even have diabetes?
How do you test a cat’s blood sugar?

I’m wondering because I have a cat that is overweight, and we think she may be ****** on the floor instead of the litterbox.
